The moon as a symbol.
The moon represents the cyclical nature of life and the continuous process of growth and transformation that happens in nature, and in each of us. Because the full moon marks the peak of the lunar cycle, (after that it will start to wane), it represents the culmination of a process and is traditionally seen as a time of completion. It is a time to let go, in order to make space for the new.
Historically, many ancient civilizations held ceremonies during the full moon, viewing it as a powerful time for spiritual practices. One theory is that as the moon reaches its brightest point, its light helps to reveal hidden aspects of our lives and to illuminate areas of our lives that require attention. This makes it a natural time to let go of things that no longer serve us and our highest good—whether that be negative thoughts, emotions, or unhealthy habits, and to set intentions for the future.
